Well, I certainly apologize if you’ve seen this before. Below, you will find Quinn excercising his vocal chords in front of CBS cameras before a game. As he yells the classic 1982 rock anthem “Eye of the Tiger”. His team, most of whom were in diapers when Rocky III came out, looks on in horror. Oh man thank you Phog Blog reader Robb for finding this. Remember to wait for it to load. Don’t just click play, it will automatically play. Patience Grasshoppa!

UPDATE:Coach Snyder doesn’t appear to know the words to the song he is singing for us. He sings: “As the last (unknown word) stalks his prey in the night, he’ll be watching the, watching the (dramatic pause) EYE of the tiger!” Survivor’s original lyric goes like this:

It’s the eye of the tiger
its the creamthrill of the fight
risin up to the challenge of our rivals
and the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
and he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger.

The eye of the tiger……
The eye of the tiger……
The eye of the tiger……

If you liked the original song and you’re in the mood to see a French guy doing “Rocky” training in a supermarket, including jogging on the “treadmill” at the checkout lane, you can watch that video here.

Several Phog Blog readers have noted that they thought the word ‘cream’ should be replaced with thrill in the above lyric. I certainly thought so myself when I first researched the lyrics, but several sites concurred that ‘cream’ was the proper word. “It was the 80’s!” I thought, perhaps cream was right. However, after finding another fan site, this one quite devoted to the life and times of Survivor, I have confirmed, as best as I can at present, that the word ‘cream’ should indeed be replaced with ‘thrill’.

You have got to be kidding me…

No wonder why Missouri has declined under Snyder.

    Quin Snyder - Survivor?
These are the sorts of things that make this whole Internet wortwhile. The Phog Blog has a video of Missouri coach .Quin Snyder singing “Eye Of The Tiger” to his players to fire them up before a game. Just classic….

  6. The Phantom Says:

Quin is an amazing survivor to still be employed under all of his investigations. The mighty Quinn singing is a riot.

  7. Matt Caraba Says:

    Cocaine is a terrible drug.

  8. Matt Caraba Says:

Ha! This reminds me of the time that I saw Coach K enter Quinn’s red eye of the tiger.

    The Why Of The Tiger
Today’s victim: Missouri head basketball coach Quin Snyder. Wow, what a voice. And, not surprisingly, someone is out to get…

  10. MUFan Says:

As hilarious as this is, it’s not real. I’m actually very surprised to see that KU fans even care about Mizzou this year. We’re on our way to having the worst season we’ve had in over 30 years and you care enough to post this. I’m honored. If you are wanting to embarrass MU fans, the mere mention of, “he who we do not name” is embarrassing enough, you don’t have to make this up. Or say anything about Belmont or any part of the 2003-04 seasons plumet from a pre-season #2 rank. I actually thought Jayhawk nation would want to see “he who we do not name” stay as head coach, as long as he’s in-charge, it’s open season on the Tigers. I will be a tiger fan till I die, but I do hope we have a new coach soon. Hopefully the gracious patrons of phogblog will come up with a better way to embarrass us cursed Tiger fans. Actually I’m a little disappointed in the effort, but thanks for the laugh.
    Go Tigers!
    Die Quin!

  11. The Phog Says:

    MUFan,

What do you mean it’s not real? What gives you cause to believe this?

  12. Go Mizzou Says:

I don’t know if anyone has noticed but the mizzou team is young. Most young teams dont make it to the top of the polls, and most teams could care less about the words to a song. I would much rather be tiger than a jayhawk that cant ultimately succeed in the tourny. You guys better hope you dont make it to the elite eight or final four…you might embarrass yourselves AGAIN. Oh yeah did you guys see that headline on ESPN…Jayhawks no longer a top seed. So sad. You can’t say too many bad things about Quinn, he’s young and learning. He learned to coach from Coack K from Duke, and Coach K learned to coach from Bobby Knight in the Army. That pattern seems pretty concrete to me…dont you agree. Mizzou will is only heading 1 way and thats up…just like when Coach K starting coaching Duke. They wanted his head and wanted him fired…but now he has a lifetime contract. Give Quinn a break…afterall I’m sure you guys are asking for a break after that terrible loss to Iowa St. on your home court.

  13. Peter Says:

“I would much rather be tiger than a jayhawk that cant ultimately succeed in the tourny.”

What does that mean? You’d rather not make the tournament than lose in the elite 8? You tiger fans are pathetic. Succeed in the tourny, huh? How does one elite 8 and zero final fours sound?

KU rules Mizzery and will for a long time as long as Quin and Pinkel are around.

    Rock Chalk,
    Peter

  14. Michael Says:

May the Jayhawk losing streak continue!!
And it looks like it will.

  15. Anonymous Says:

The excuse of being “young” is so pathetic. Quinn has used that ever since coming to MU and it’s sad that there are MU fans who buy into his spin. He’s had 4 Top 25 recruiting classes and hasn’t done a thing except embarrass the UofM. Never placed better than 5th in the Big 12, 0-6 against Self and won’t make the tourney two years in a row. By the way, great job on loosing to KU on your home court when you had the opportunity to keep your rival from going undefeated in the Big 12 and loosing to them on the last game at Hearne’s. That’s really great coaching.

He’s a bad coach and is laughed at by every other coach in the country. By the way, because he worked under Coach K doesn’t equate to success - obviously given his track record so far, but also look at Tommy A. at Michigan.

  16. dave Says:

    Oh. My. God.

    That is priceless.

I am an Illini fan. We dont care for
teh Jayhawks all that much. But you might have just changed that. Awesome.

I wonder if he shows that to recruits…

  17. Sandman Says:

    Scoreboard…….72-68

  18. mu fan Says:

hey, guess what all you ku fans? it looks like your pathetic jayhawks just lost to the tigers!!!!! eat that!!!!!!!

  19. The Phog Says:

As I’ve said on this blog before, it was a hard fought win by Mizzou and I congratulate them for it. I do tire of ‘flaming’ irrational comments though.

  20. MIZ man Says:

ku players and fans are just spoiled, sore losers…walking off the court in utter disgrace instead of shaking Belmonts hands…shows a lot

  21. The Phog Says:

I believe that you meant to write “Bucknell’s” instead of “Belmonts”. I think the lack of hand-shaking was embarassing, but amidst the celebration, it was very easy to understand.

  22. Jerkface Says:

Regarding the handshake incident, I have to remind everyone that the Bucknell coach took NO offense to it whatsoever and went so far as to excuse the Jayhawks. The Bisone were on another planet; the last thing they were thinking of was shaking with the Hawks. It was the Bison to FORGOT to shake, not the Jayhawks who refused. Langford et al hung around to see if Bucknell would come down a bit, but they never did, so they understandably gave up and went back to the locker room.

  23. Joe Bago Says:

Maybe Self will sing Chaka Kahn next

  24. Tiger Nick Says:

We suck, Quin will be gone before the year is over, and maybe, just maybe, the Tigers will make a good decision and hire a coach worth something, does anyone have any suggestions?

  25. Tiger Nick Says:

We suck, Quin will be gone before the year is over, and maybe, just maybe, the Tigers will make a good decision and hire a coach worth something, does anyone have any suggestions? If that fat lard Majerus could lose some weight I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing him at a local hotel.

  26. Villa Says:

Is that Tiger Nick? Founder of the Tigerboard?

  27. mizzoufan Says:

I am a mizzou fan and i always will be but this may be the best video i have seen in my life being that quinn snyder is the worst coach to ever coach a division 1 school. i would just like to say thank you to whoever found this video

  28. quinisdurdurdur Says:

i think quin is a good, no wait, incredible singer

  29. Columbianative Says:

Things sure have turned around, in Quin’s favor, since he is no longer a threat to coach our team. Mizzou fans are calling for AD Mike Alden’s hanging. If there’s anything shadier than our post-Norm coaching staff, it’s the athletic administration. No trust since the death of Aaron O’Neal, the arrest of the KU fans at Mizzou Arena, the Paige Arena fiasco. We can’t even drink in the stands, but the skyboxes have open bars. Fans are being shut out.

How did it take a year for me to get this link?

  30. scrilla Says:

the video doesn’t work please fix

  31. Dirty Carl Sports » Blog Archive » Our Yearly Boring Obsession With The Busch Braggin’ Rights Game Says:

[…] It’s time for our yearly Busch Braggin’ Rights game post. Last year, when we headed back to Illinois for the yearly Illinois-Missouri basketball matchup in St. Louis, we marveled at just how poorly coached Missouri was. Quin Snyder, who can still FIRE UP HIS TEAM with the best of them, was fired less than two months later; he spent the end of the Braggin’ Rights game covered in popcorn. The new coach, Nolan Richardson disciple Mike Anderson, should survive the evening better than Snyder, and he could even continue the tradition of first-year coaches always winning the Braggin’ Rights game. (The Illini have won the last six.) […]
