Bahe is Transferring
Phog Blog reader Clock writes in expressing disappointment that we haven’t mentioned Bahe’s transfer. On the news last night, Fox’s sports reporter called him “Nick Bay - Hee” over and over.
I wish only the best for Nick - I think he’ll get more minutes at Creighton and he still gets to have the word “Jay” in his mascot name.
You can read more on the story here.
Had DeAndre Thomas not opted to go to the Dark Side, that scholarship could have been made available to him. My guess is that now we’ll hold onto it for next year, where the class is a little better. Or maybe CJ Henry will join the team. He will surprise people if so.

FYI - Bahe was a walk on and didn’t have a scholarship. There are still no scholarships available, even for the poor soul that opted for mediocrity.
Bahe isn’t necessarily a big loss to the KU basketball team, but I think he’s a big loss to the KU basketball program. Not only was he of the utmost character, he was great in interviews and had lights blinking above his head concerning his future as a KU basketball commentator. I think he made a good move for his immediate future as a basketball player, but a terrible move for his future basketball career.

Thanks Jeff, I can’t believe I made that mistake…something about his receiving a scholly at Creighton surely.
I liked Bahe a lot and I think Kansas will still reserve a lot of love for him should he decide to move back in this direction after school.
You could very well be right in terms of future commentating / coaching opportunities.
April 26th, 2005 at 2:33 pm
kansas does show a lot of love for people who leave them, just ask roy williams. ha what planet are you from anyway, phog?
April 26th, 2005 at 2:39 pm
John,
There’s just no need to be nasty. Be polite or leave. I have said over and over that I wish no ill will towards Roy. The issue with Roy is not that he left, in my opinion, but that he left to take his good friend’s job.
I think we’re better off with Self, Bucknell notwithstanding.
Seriously, though, behave. I don’t have time to sit here and monitor everything you write.
April 26th, 2005 at 2:53 pm
John - Roy is special case though. If he would have left the first time, KU fans would still love him to death. After he told us he would never leave, and then left, that’s why there’s lingering animosity.
Bahe has been nothing but great for the program and never promised to stay here until “retirement”, so he’s in the clear with KU fans and will simply be missed. Just like Galindo.
April 26th, 2005 at 4:08 pm
oh i’ve figured out your rules. you can say anything nasty or detrimental about mizzou or anyone else, but don’t even hint at something negative about kansass or you’re rude and nasty. why is anyone great who picks kansass, but anyone who doesn’t go to or stay at kansass is stupid or not that good in the first place. i’ll just leave all you gayhawk fans from kay u to wallow in your make believe gayhawk world, where you win every game every year and the bucknell loss was one in 105+ years, whatever that means. i think the phog’s mind is what phoggy. rock choke, jawhawk!
April 26th, 2005 at 4:44 pm
Just ban him. His sauce isn’t even fresh. If we want this we can go over to the rectum of humanity that has become phog.net.
April 26th, 2005 at 9:26 pm
As long as John plays by the rules, he’s free to comment, but I will admit, Mike, that he is very close to being banned.
It’s the off season though, and the humble pie has to be cooked sometime.
Here’s guessing John won’t be around to eat it next year when the going gets tough for Mizzou.
Just a guess.
April 26th, 2005 at 9:46 pm
Yes and your guesses haven’t been too accurate. Why am I close to being banned? You can ban me any time you want. Villa is right on, you Kansass fans can’t stand to hear the truth. Talk about humble pie, getting beat by a 14 seed whose entire conference had NEVER WON A NCAA TOURNAMENT GAME! I would think that would be very humbling, and it’s only going to get worse at Kay U. It will be sad indeed when the basketball program falls to the level of the rest of Kansas athletics. You can’t even refer to them as mediocre-most are non-existent. Your baseball, wrestling(if you even have it), golf, etc. is at an intramural level at best. You guys should really be proud. Rock Choke, or whatever you say. lmao
April 27th, 2005 at 8:10 am
John,
I seem to remember KU beating MU in the Border War last year and having the lead currently….what does that say about MU’s program?
And “Kay U”? Wow, that hurts.
Keep celebrating your mediocrity, we don’t mind.
Peter

At least Bucknell was IN the NCAA Tournament.
April 27th, 2005 at 6:16 pm
As long as Self is around, QUin will own him. I can’t wait until it shows!
April 28th, 2005 at 1:02 pm
How can you say that Quinn will own Bill when Bill has beat him in 4 of the 5 meetings. Also, one of those meetings was the last in the so called storied Hern Center. Lastly, Quinn won’t be around more than another year anyways. So, like always MU will suck/choke talent down the drain.
April 28th, 2005 at 1:10 pm
No adam ku has sucked/choked talent down the drain. Who has the most players in the nba? you guessed it kay u. how many championships have you won in the last 25 years? you’re right the same number as Mizzou-0. Losing to a 14 seed-priceless. That’s a real choke, and if ku doesn’t improve in the next year Bail Self will be looking elsewhere for employment-guaranteed! Peter, you better check your border war facts-you got smoked last year something like 32-16. There are several sports kay u doesn’t even have on a varsity level that aren’t counted obviously, probably just an oversight on your part-right!!!!!!!
April 28th, 2005 at 1:11 pm
“As long as Self is around, Quin will own him.” Goodness, that was funny. The ONLY thing Quin will ever OWN over Bill Self is a record for recruiting violations and the debacle known as Ricky Clemons.
April 28th, 2005 at 1:13 pm
Dear John:
I’d rather be one and done in the BIG DANCE then NEVER dance at all. Even a MU fan can’t deny that. NIT-Not Invited Tournament. How many years has Mizzou played there again?
April 28th, 2005 at 1:21 pm
Regarding the Border War last year, KU won, 21.5 to 18.5. The link is here.
This year, KU is winning 14.5 to 12.5. The link is here.
April 28th, 2005 at 3:04 pm
Once again the Phog has misled the public. The Border War may not be a true indicator because it only takes into account sports that both schools have. Kay U doesn’t even have a men’s wrestling program (unless they do so intramurally (ha), nor do they have women’s gymnastics. Thus we really don’t have a true indicator of both schools athletic departments. Sometime come over to columbia and check our facilities and compare to yours. Ha!
April 28th, 2005 at 4:21 pm
Ugh, Mizzou fans. It’s not hard to figure out why they’re so classless. Since the inception of the Big XII, every team in the North division has won a championship in either football or basketball… except for Mizzou. They suffer from envy of their Big XII brethren. Always overrated, always underachieving, the Mizzou fans are left with a bitter taste in their mouth year after year. It’s become so ridiculous, that Mizzou fans actually spent $50 a piece on Bucknell jerseys and other apparel. Can you even imagine a Kansas fan caring enough to buy a piece of DePaul clothing? Mizzou fans are forced to grasp for straws in such a lopsided rivalry.
April 28th, 2005 at 5:03 pm
Troy, don’t know what you are smoking or whatever, but it’s good stuff. What sport do you have any semblance of success in besides basketball? Tough question. No envy, sorry. Cow tipping, sunflower climbing and wheat waving don’t interest us, sorry. And yes it is kind of sad to admit, but Bucknell did deliver the highlight of our year by knocking out an overseeded 3rd seed. Their entire conference had never before won a game in the history of the NCAA tournament. Rock Choke!
April 28th, 2005 at 6:26 pm
John, you are just like any MU fan. You were proven wrong about last year’s Boarder War, and so you diverted the point. The point is that MU may not have choked at the Dance as we did, but MU choked the entire year. Can you say Houston or Davidson. What about getting swept by total loser K-state. That’s choking. Another thing is that in other sports who can say that they had a Heisman candidate and then he choked it away or has been dominated by KU, who you say sux at fball, in the last two meetings. Let’s talk about MEDIOCRITY!!
April 28th, 2005 at 7:38 pm
Winning doesn’t give you class, you can tell that by Kay U basketball fans.
April 28th, 2005 at 7:49 pm
John, lets not talk about class. Your the fans that have obtained cell phone numbers of players and of coaches and prank called them at all hours of the night. Is that class? I know exactly how you are going to counter this by bringing up the posters at this year’s game here in Lawrence. Yes that was classless. But that is one incident, MU fans have shown their ability to be classless many more times.
April 29th, 2005 at 12:04 pm
Hmmm, I see that Eem U doesn’t have a Rowing team…must be an oversight by that detail-oriented John!!!!!!
What sports do interest you over there? Tobacco spitting, converting gas tanks into musical instruments, seeing who has the most teeth missing?
I drove through Columbia last year on my way to see KU beat UAB in the NCAA tournament. We wanted to stop in and see what Columbia had to offer, but we missed the exit sign because of all the porn and fireworks billboards.
April 29th, 2005 at 7:39 pm
What posters?? WHat did those KU fans do this time? Tell me John, I cant seem to remember.
April 29th, 2005 at 10:08 pm
Sorry Pete, don’t even try to compare Columbia to Lawrence. That would be like comparing New York to Mayberry. Columbia is a fantastic town and our university facilities make Lawrence’s look like a two-bit junior college. We show cattle in a building better than you play basketball in. We have around 60,000 at out football games and you have about 6,000.00. When Roy announced he was going to stay at your stadium, you had more people than at your football games. As for class, you have your share, I can still remember the tommy guns when Stipanovich accidently shot himself. We do have some rowdies call the Antlers, and they do pull off some low-class capers, but they are the exception. Then there are your players who stretch out their jerseys and try to taunt our fans when they happen to win in Columbia. A lot of class there. Then how about your team not being able to wait around after Bucknell kicked their butts to shake their hands? All they did was celebrate a little after the biggest win in the history of their conference! You guys just exude class, huh?
April 30th, 2005 at 8:05 am
John, why do you get to say that the antlers are an exception, but when I say that this or that was an exception we are lying or just covering it up. I have no problem with Columbia, I have never been there. No if you want to talk class lets talk about how your police chief attacked one of our students and is now going to pay for it. The Bucknell game goes like this, do I think that KU was wrong in what they did, YES. But, who should get most of the blame, the security and the people running the event. If you have ever been to a game that is held at someone’s home court and then an upset happens the administration and the security holds the fans back to let the teams shake hands and then they let the fans and team go crazy. Bucknell had a right to run around like crazy kids, but the security could have and should have held the fans off the court so that the KU players were not run over and also given a chance to shake hands. Also, to deal with the stretching out of our team’s jerseys. What does the front of our jersey say, KANSAS. The players are proud of that fact and its not their fault that MU kids aren’t proud of their school.

Comparing Columbia to Mayberry is unfair. Columbia does have more Walmarts.
Interesting article in the Mizzou home state paper:
May 1st, 2005 at 9:39 am
“if Snyder realistically doesn’t have the talent to engineer a swift turnaround, then what’s the point of bringing him back? If he’s destined to fail, then the Missouri program will just spin in neutral, or slide into reverse, for one more year.”
Link to story.
May 1st, 2005 at 10:08 am
Another interesting fact: According to the Big 12 web site, only one school in the conference has zero championships in men’s sports.
Need I say who?
And only one school has only one championship in women’s sports. (Softball.)
That’s right: Also Mizzou.
May 1st, 2005 at 2:28 pm
Too bad Mizzou has won the College World Series and has also been to two national championships in football. We have gone to 5 orange bowls, 2 fiesta bowls, and a sugar bowl. Know your facts. We own you in sports!!! Go Mizzou!!
May 1st, 2005 at 9:46 pm
I believe that KU owns the lead over Mizzou in the all time football series and has almost a 2-1 winning ratio in basketball. I do recall that MU was rated No. 1 in football going into the final game of the 1960 regular season. I don’t recall that they ended the season No. 1. Help me out here: Anyone remember what happened in that game?
May 2nd, 2005 at 4:24 am
jeez, Sounds like all the Longhorn and Sooner message boards the week of the Texas-OU game.
May 2nd, 2005 at 6:54 am
Major difference: In that case, BOTH schools are traditional powers in their sport and BOTH schools’ fans have enough history and succcess to justify talking smack.
May 18th, 2005 at 2:46 pm
How come nobody has mentioned the fact that Creighton owned Moo last in KC?
Nick Bahe is going from one basketball program that is better than Moo’s to another that is better than Moo’s.
