   I cannot believe that JR is in some sort of off season distraction again. When he was a freshman it was the Wal-Mart thing - OK fine, he was young and hanging with the wrong crowd. Last year it was the wreck. - OK fine, the other car clipped his. This year a KNIFE FIGHT?!?!? If he is to be a leader on this team, he has to take a page out of last year’s seniors and stay out of situations like that. He did not need to be at an over 21 bar in the first place. The whole community knows that he is not 21. But they still let him in. He definately needs to grow up and take more responsibility as a team leader.

   You know, if I had a shot to go to the NBA and make millions, I would do everything possible to get there. JR’s immaturity is leading him on the path of “had” a chance to go to the NBA instead of “has”… It’s really too bad. Some people have the mental strength and discipline (and desire), some people don’t. Maybe this will give Self an opportunity to play more worthy players and let Giddens come in off the bench.

   No, I’ve been to the Moon Bar and I’m fairly confident that is is an over 21 bar. Also, the newspaper is making a big deal about it being an over 21 bar. Either way, it’s a shame that somebody had to resort to bringing out the pocket knife and slashing people. Hopefully soon, we’ll get a better idea of what really happened that night.

   I’m not going to judge J.R., i really want to hear what J.R. has to say but i hope he will be better this coming year but he might not be the same.Look at it this way sure J.R. was in a fight but he never stabbed anybody, its one thing to be in a fight but its another to pull a knife!!plus this guy stabbed more than one person.

   This incident has “hothead” written all over it. All the more pressure on Wright, Chalmers and Downs, with J.R. losing a summer, not to mention his leadership role.

   After spending the next 3 months rehabbing instead of honing his game, will J.R.’s junior year be a repeat of his soph slump?

   Sorry this had to happen to JR but I know Jerimiah and he is a wantabe wise guy piece of crap and hope it does not ruin JR’s career because Jerimiah is a weirdo. I could do Jerimiah alot of harm if I was a chicken like Jerimiah and turn in this voice mail he left me saying he was going to cut me up and stab me in the back and if I don’t come meet him he was going to blow my head off. But I laughed and told him he is on a whole other level,he needs to grow up and think about life.
   P.S. JR might have been at a club but almost guarantee JERIMIAH was the cause.

   hey well i really hope J.r. giddens will be okay bc i dont want him to be hurt he is a great person! And everyone thinks hes a jerk but he really isnt! J.R. has just a lot of stuff going on its not his fault he got stabbed he did not tell the guy to stab him it was not his choice. The guys just did it because he wanted to!!! I LOVE U J.R.     JR is an IDIOT!!!! What do you mean, he didnt ask for it? What did he do that wasnt asking for it? I mean come on a fight at a bar, are you sure, that seems real unlikely. How about not hanging out in bars if you have a chance to be an NBA player, not to mention its illegal if your not 21. But I guess so is thinking that an entire cart load of Wal-Mart Audiovox electronics only cost a few bucks.

    Now he is not going to be back on the court for 6-10 weeks. There goes his chances for improving what was a dissapointing year for him last year. If ever we need a shooter, it will be next year. C’mon Mario, don’t let us down.

    If the guy was on the ground and took a wild swing with a knife, the closest thing he could get to was a leg. Whether it was JR’s leg that was kicking him is the question. He was in arm’s length to him though. If a fight breaks out and you are not involved, you should not be within an arm’s length of the guy getting pummeled.

    Whitlock was wrong to write this article although no one should be surprised. He typically plays loose and fast with the facts to suit his purposes. He’s written a nice piece of fiction that will contribute to Giddens demise. I don’t doubt Giddens was wrong but to paint this other guy out to be a victim is ludicrous! The Malcolm X reference… he must be kidding.

    It’s funny how someone hears one side of a story and sticks to it. The stories say Giddens instigated the fight but that’s hearsay, were you personally there to witness this?? Come on, give him the benefit of the doubt. More than likely comments made from people trashing Giddens after reading the articles were not there. I’m not saying he’s innocent but I’m not saying he’s guilty. It’s one of those “wrong place at the wrong time” type situations, whether he should have been there or not. The comment that drives me crazy is “he was asking for it” or “that’s what he gets” Im sorry but no one deserves that I dont care if he started it or not, nobody that was hurt in the fight asked to get stabbed or hurt! I really hope JR is doing good and wish him the best of luck during his healing process. I stand behind him and support him 100% no matter the outcome of the situation.

    OK!!! For One, If you don’t know exactly what happened, why don’t you keep your mouth shut until you know the facts. Being somewhere at the wrong time does not automatically make someone guilty. If Giddens felt like he needed people there to back him up, thats his busines, and personally, I give him mad props for doing that!!! WAY TO GO JR!!! As far as Im concerned, people who said that Jr “asked for what he got” or even that “i wish he would’ve died”, that is just outright ridiculous. I know that I don’t personally know what happened and why it happened, I think that people should actually know the TRUE FACTS, but until then, shut your mouth! I am SOOOOOOO tired of people talkin trash about something that they know nothing about. As well as my friend lindsay, we are KU FANS and will not sit back and let people talk nonsense about the team nor its players, especially JR GIDDENS. Jr is recooperating from fine from what I hear and will be fine. FOR YA’LL WHO WISH HE WOULDA DIED…Well, guess what!!!! HE DIDN’T.     WHOA!! A fresno state fan….man, thats something to be proud of!!! I never said that just because I was a fan that they weren’t in the wrong. Like i stated previosly, it may have been the “wrong place at the wrong time” type of deal..maybe you should think things through before you go runnin off at the mouth. You just come off as a very cocky type of guy that thinks he knows what goes on, but I can almost guarantee you that there are people on here that think the same as I do. JR Giddens has accomplished more in the last couple years as far as his career and school goes…yeah, he may have done something bad in the years past, but that is the only thing on his track record. Im sure there are players at Fresno State that have worse track records than JR would ever think about having.

    JR is fine everyone! He will be back on the court next year, which KU fans are excited about. I have read some of the entries, and it seems kind of harsh for people to say that he deserved what he got and even that they wished he would’ve died. I don’t think that comments such as that, should have been said, knowing that is very disrespectful. I, as well as friends of mine or even KU fans took a real hit to find out what had happened. Most people say that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, which might have been the case. He may have been part of the fight, but was not the reason why it started. I am not here to offend anyone, Im just simply stating what I think, and as far as I know, there isn’t any harm in stating your own opinion! I can tell that some people have very strong feelings regarding why this happened or even what the outcome was. Some think he deserved it because of the guy he is, and some are worried about his recovery and when he’ll return to the game he loves most…KU Basketball! Me, personally, am wishing JR Giddens a quick recovery and wish him all the best in the years to come. We’re prayin for ya, JR!!! Get well quick and we’ll see ya next year!

    I am sorry that this had to happen to a player from the school that came up with the muck fizzou catchphrase. We wish him a speedy recovery here at Mizzou, as we are sorry to see any athlete injured. However, if you cant accept the fact that JR must take responsibility for his own actions, then you are all in denial. He was there, got involved in a situation that he shouldn’t have, and will pay the consequences. He should have walked away from the situation when it became the least bit evident that violence might arise. It’s unfortunate for all involved, but it could have easily been avoided if he would have been a real man and just walked away.

    Ok Amanda and Katie …. You guys are taking this WAY overboard.     TRUE PR!!! Its interesting when you say that people loved him when he was hittin the “big money” shots, but now that hes in all this garbage, they begin to trash him. I dont call that a die-hard fan…But I guess people do what they want, and which that is uncontrollable.     Yea, J.R got released from the team. He made a bad decision thats all you can say about it. Hopefully he will learn from it and become more mature with his days.     J.R. is a very bright young man with a great future still ahead of him at a D1 school, the University of New Mexico. Yes, he has made many mistakes as most people have in life, and he doesn’t deserve to be condemned or killed as some of you perfect people out there would like. I am a relative of J.R. and I wish him all the luck in the world at his new school. Your family still loves you and wishes you much success. For those of you who wish harm and distruction on others, I feel sorry for you and your horrible outlook on others and life. The ugly comments really need to stop. Its time for all of you to look beyond the past and towards the future.

    Yeah, I was at the bar and saw the fight. And yes, J.R. did have his friends come help him beat up one guy who was bugging him. J.R. got stabbed when he had the guy pinned down with his legs, beating the man repeatedly in the face. Was it right for several guys to jump on one man? No. If it were eight white guys jumping one black man, would it have been charged a hate crime? Probably. Is it fair that J.R. will get no punishment other than being transferred? Not in the least. Will the true KU fans miss J.R.? They shouldn’t. J.R. Giddens not only brings down the credibility of KU’s basketball program, he brings down the credibility of KU itself.

    If The Man is speakin the truth and really was there, then JR was wrong…period…you shouldn’t ever wish harm on anybody, but if I had to stab someone in the leg to keep from being seriously injured by a bunch of thugs, I’ll keep a knife in every pocket…And I wasn’t there, I don’t know what happened for sure…but the one thing I ask myself is, if JR really was a victim in this incident, then why would Coach Self boot him from the team, cuz I’m sure he knows more about what really happened than most?

    All ku fans,families and university need to get over Jr,the moon bar incident and move on with your lives. Ku will survive and so will Jr. Jr is young and will be able mature and learn from life mistakes. He get back up again and go in the direction that God has intented for him to go.
