Yet another Brandon Rush update
Brandon Rush, the 6-foot-6 guard who is being recruited by Kansas, continues to wait on approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse regarding his eligibility. A ruling was expected Tuesday, but the Clearinghouse required an original document from one of the high schools Rush attended rather than the photocopy that had been sent. If all the correct paperwork is in order, it appears Rush should be cleared. If cleared, Rush intends to play at KU this season after already enrolling in fall classes.
It’s becoming farcical, really.

I remain concerned that he is not attending classes. How far behind will he be? Will he be academically eligible if his 1st semester grades are not too good?
I’m no fool. I realize that the “Basketball Theory” class that he probably enrolled in will be OK. But surely he’ll have to take something that will involve academics - English, math, etc.
I hope he’s motivated enough, and the tutors that he’ll be working with are patient enough, to catch up and make an acceptable academic showing.

According to a story on ESPN.com about Texas’ PJ Tucker, “NCAA rules require a player to pass six credit hours of course work in the first semester.” With “Basketball Theory” and geology (a/k/a “Rocks for Jocks”), he should be able to handle 6 credit hours.
