I think the announcers for the MAAG just said that Chalmers was thinking about the NBA last summer and that he might go this year! They also said that Chalmers might have to move over to the 2 with Collins coming in? Here’s an idea, do some homework before you do a game you’ve had months to prepare for. They didn’t even mention that Russel Robinson is the point or that Brandon Rush is the one they were thinking of going to the NBA. Sorry, I know I shouldn’t expect much.

Did anyone see the jam Sherron made at the end of the MAA game? Wow! It was better than all the dunks in the slam dunk contest!

Great dunk… and I was impressed with the way he does dirty work… defense, rebounding, and diving on the floor. He reminds me of Randy Foye of Villanova.

OU coaching search heats up
By Sloof Lirpa, Tribune
April 01, 2006
Now that 60 teams have fallen out of the NCAA tournament, the Oklahoma coaching search can kick into high gear. Background checks of candidates are now starting.
One candidate, Lionel Hollins, the assistant coach of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, said OU officials have contacted his agent and indicated that a background check will be undertaken.
Another possible candidate — Mark Turgeon, whose Wichita State team was a surprise member of the Sweet 16. At least two others have seen their teams eliminated: Jamie Dixon of Pittsburgh and Bill Self of Kansas.
Self said Friday night that a jump to Oklahoma was not out of the question. It has been rumored that the high expectations at Kansas, coupled with crippling first round losses to Bucknell and Bradley have taken a toll on Self.
“I haven’t had time to look at it,” Self told the Tribune. “We’ve been in discussions. That’s all I can really say about it.”
Self, who currently makes in the range of $550,000-$600,000, said he had not been contacted at this point by OU.
Another coach whose name has been mentioned is Randy Bennett, a former star player at Westwood High School who is now the coach of St. Mary’s of California. Bennett signed a six-year contract last year after leading St. Mary’s to the NCAA tournament.
Asked if he might express interest in the job, Bennett said Monday, “I don’t know. I’m pretty happy with the situation I have now.”
Other possible candidates include former coaches Steve Lavin and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight.
Another coach linked to the OU job in media reports has been Lon Kruger. Kruger has denied interest in the job. His son echoed those thoughts Monday.
Speculation that his father and OU officials have discussed the job “couldn’t be further from the truth,” Kevin Kruger said. He also added that his father has a strong team returning and that overall, “He couldn’t be happier” with his situation.
