Great for Rush, but how could you leave off Wright?!?! How could a preseason Top 10 draft pick not make the list?

I don’t think any KU player should be on here. Does Rush compare to a Pierce, Collison, or Hinrich? Not yet.
Wright shoulnd’t be on any of these lists because he is still unproven. NBA drafts on potential not college success. Next year, I think we stand a great shot to have our entire starting 5 on the first four teams.

Gweedo, Rush’s freshman year numbers: 13.5 pts, 6 boards, 2 assists, 47% FG
Nick as a freshman: 10.5 pts, 7 boards, 1 assist, 50% FG
Kirk: 5.5 pts, 2.4 boards, 3.6 assists, 43% FG
Raef: 11.7 pts, 7.5 boards, .5 assists, 53.4% FG
Does Rush compare to those guys? Absolutely.

Peter:
I never said Rush’s numbers weren’t good–especially for a freshman (even though he was a year older than a true freshman). He compares quite favorably to the recent KU greats when you consider frosh vs frosh stats.
My point was, I don’t see how Rush can be considered a first team All American based upon his performance last year. Kirk, Nick, Paul, and Raef all had great careers under their belt before they were considered first teamers (heck Kirk never really was–anyone think TJ Ford is better now???) as Juniors and Seniors. All of them were also clutch performers and lead KU to tournament victories.
I hope that Rush becomes that player–I certainly believe he has the ability. I just don’t think anyone on KU’s team deserves to be a legitimate first teamer at this point.
