Phog Blog on SI.com…call for contributors
Thought I might drop a shout out to SI on Campus’ power rankings, in which KU still finds itself, accompanied by a strange reference to nocturnal urination by none other than everyone’s favorite blog editor - me.
Phog Blog is growing and getting an ever better and more active commentor base, but I’d love to have more posts. If any of you out there would like to contribute posts or opinions from time to time, please email me at phogblog@gmail.com. I’ll be accepting a few new posters and would love to get some more varied perspective on the Hawks.
Note: The Phog Blog is not, nor will it ever be a replacement for your favorite Jayhawk board. But since it’s got RSS all up in it and its friendly to mobile devices (and, might I add, home to good, honest discussion), there will be a growing place for it among Jayhawk fans.

I plan on posting a “Where are they now and how the heck are they doing” feature on all the players who have transferred under Self’s watch. It’ll be the highlight of all our lives.

I agree thier should be some more posts. Seems like this blog has not been as active as it was last year.

Ark,
My company got acquired back in April and as a result, I’ve got less and less time. The comments are actually more abundant now than ever, but I’d like to get some more posters to get some news or just open discussion topics.

More posters will help. This is my favorite site to get info on KU. Now that I am in Arkansas I have to use the net most of the time.
How is recruiting going for 08? Are we getting the kid out of Bishop Miege. Relaford(sp)?

I watched MIZZOU play the Razorbacks the other night and let me tell you the tigers looked good. They are bringing the 40 minutes of hell and I hope our big guys are ready to help get the ball up the court. They forced Ark into 17 turnovers at halftime and ended up blowing a end of the year tournament team out.
How is K-state looking havn’t seen any thing about them.?

I will get a good look at K-State this weekend as they visit my school, North Dakota State, in the biggest home game for the Bison ever. This is the same NDSU team that beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin last year and Marquette at Marquette this year. Must be something about the state of Wisconsin. Anyway, my point is I’ll let you know how K-State looks, although they’ll be without Bill Walker who isn’t eligable yet.
While I love my Bison, I love the Jayhawks more. I was a little dissapointed in last nights game, but it’s good that they won while not playing well. I’m just so frustrated with the stupid mistakes, such as getting a rebound and trying to dribble the ball up the floor immediately in a pack of players, resulting in loosing the ball and having USC, or whoever they’re playing, get an easy two points. Brandon Rush did this last night and Julian Wright has done it several time this year. Just wait one second and outlet the ball to a guard on the wing.
Also, this team needs to loosen up, especially Brandon Rush. You can tell that Rush is timid. He just needs to play with confidence and he’ll be fine.
The Big XII might not be as bad as some may have thought entering the year. OK St looked really good tonight against Syracuse and you know A&M will be tough. Also, I haven’t seen Missouri yet, but just the fact that they haven’t lost yet makes me think they’ll be much improved to say the least. I still think KU is the best team, but it might not be as easy as everyone thought it would be.

Remember the beginning of the 2004-2005 season? K-State started the season 8-0, and everyone was saying that it was their breakthrough season. They ended up 17-12. Mizzou has played Arkansas, and only Arkansas. Arkansas only beat UMKC by 10. Read into that however you may, but MU has yet to prove anything. They have NO offense and rely entirely on 3s, things going their way on defense, and their weak transition game. I’m sure they’ll improve and gain confidence over the season, and hey, everyone in the North gets CU twice, so they could still be a possible tournament team, I guess.

That’s a good point Bobby. They really haven’t beaten anybody outside of Arkansas yet, but I just think that they will continue to get better because of Mike Anderson. They have a long way to go though, but their improvement along with some other programs will help strengthen the conference.
I would predict 5 teams from the Big XII making it to the NCAA Tournament: Kansas, A&M, Texas, and OK St for sure with Missouri having a good shot also.
Rock Chalk!

I agree RockChalk. I think that Anderson was a great hire for the Tigers and hope that he and other recent hires will help get the Big XII more respect when compared to the Big East and the ACC. Also, don’t forget about Texas Tech. Bobby Knight my have a hard time recruiting nowadays, but he sure knows how to keep a mediocre team on the bubble. They play Arkansas on the 16th, and it will be interesting to see how a Knight defense affects what should be a slightly better team than Missouri faced.
