Recap: Kansas 64 Oklahoma 47

posted by Hoopinion on 3/9/2007 - -

Oklahoma points per possession for the game: 0.77.

Oklahoma points per possession in the second half: 0.65. (Field goals made: 4. Offensive rebounds: 1.)

Oklahoma points per possession in the second half minus Beau Gerber’s domination of Matt Kleinmann in garbage time: 0.54.

It was a mediocre offensive performance from Kansas, but mostly due to (gasp!) poor free throw shooting and impotent offensive rebounding. The Jayhawks shot 51 eFG% and only turned the ball over on 16% of their possessions (and two of their ten turnovers were committed by Case and Stewart in the final two minutes.

that game was ugly all the way around. sloppy play, sloppy foul shooting, and especially sloppy officiating. why is that college officials will call touch fouls out at half court (e.g. julian wright’s fourth foul) and then swallow the whistle on maulings under the basket (e.g. every shot sasha kaun takes)? is it too much to ask that they call the game consistently?

the only thing more putrid than our first half offense was texas tech’s offense for the entire game. too bad. i would have liked the chance of getting some payback against tech.

will huggie be rocking the blackjack costume tomorrow? that in itself is enough reason to tune in.

Little concerned with RussRob’s FTs…we need our guards to be solid at the line for the tourney.

I was asked by a friend what I thought Kansas’ biggest weakness was. Had to think about it. I said B.Rush has to continue to shoot the ball. Everytime you look at pics of him, he has the same form, it looks like someone photoshopped in the defender. He’s got great form. Anyway, I’m curious what do yall think our biggest weakness is?

It’s right there in the previous posts. Free throws all the way. And a tendency to let teams go off on us from 3-point land, though we’ve been better about that lately.
