How about this 2008 recruiting class
5 seniors to replace . . . Coach is swinging for the fences and is in on some great kids. How about this recruiting class in 2008:
Greg Monroe 6-9 PF
Romero Osby 6-8 SF
Willie Warren 6-4 SG
Travis Releford 6-3 CG
Rotnei Clarke 5-10 PG
Clarke and Warren are great friends. Warren is a great shooter, and Clarke recently scored 60 points in a state playoff game. Osby is a force inside and is developing into a wicked wing. We all know about Releford, who now plays in Kansas and was an AAU teammate of Tyrel Reed and, I believe, Conner Teahan too. Releford’s been playing pickup games in Lawrence during the summer for a couple of years now, from what I hear. Monroe is only the consensus #1 high school prospect in the class.
Now that would be a special class, and Coach Self is just the guy to pull it off!

I wonder if Self will go and try to get Alex Legion? + If he does get him that’ll affect the 08 recruits… link is above!

Legion was granted his release today, and he lists a “final four” of KU, UCLA, UK, and UCONN. KU will have a great shot at him, but all 4 schools need him. He obviously fills a “need” at KU, especially if Rush goes pro. He will battle for Afflalo’s time at UCLA. UK’s talent level is down, and Legion would raise it significantly. UCONN is simply desperate.
Alex Legion is a 6-4 SG out of Detroit. He is ranked as the #11 SG in the country, and the #33 overall prospect, by Scout.com. He would be an excellent addition to the team.
I wonder, though, how his recruitment would impact our ability to get in on some of the 2008 recruits that we have made a priority, including Willie Warren and Travis Releford.

Brad Garrett, a Utah shooting guard, cancelled his visit to KU this weekend. He’s a transfer with 3 to play 2. He has already completed his mission, so he’s ready to focus on basketball.
It’s probably best that this happened. It looks like KU would replace Rush with Legion in 2007, but otherwise would hold the scholarship to 2008, where KU has it sights set on a big-time recruiting class.

Eric Bossi posted on a message board that Bill Self and Kurtis Townsend are at Oak Hill visiting with Alex Legion today (18th).

Actually, the word on Brad Garrett is that KU cancelled the visit. That tells me that Self and company are focused on Legion or will wait until 2008.

Alex legion recently dropped ku from his list its between Uconn and UK.( Just to update.) And by the way connor tehan is an AAU teammate of Tyrel Reed. (Pump N’ Run) The 2008 class could be a dynamic one. I think Osby will come no doubt. Greg Monroe on the other hand i tihnk we have a ligitamate shot at getting him. What it said about warren and clarke being buddies helps ku. Just getting 2 out of these 5 would b great. also can bill self live up to the average of 2 mcdonalds all americans a year
