KU Wins 55-3
23 points. That’s all KU opponents have scored thus far. I have a sinking feeling that we may see a collapse in the second half of this season not unlike those we saw in the second half of games last year, but I am still cautiously optimistic that this isn’t the case. KU beat FIU about as badly as did Penn State, and a lot worse than did Maryland or Miami.
It’s too early to celebrate, but Sagarin’s Pure Points Predictor has KU in the top 10 (as of last week) for the first time in my memory.
I don’t see any reason why we can’t make a run at the North, and maybe, just maybe, this guy will be able to watch a game on TV here in sunny Florida.

Kansas is 33rd with 6 votes in the latest AP poll and tied for 29th in the latest coaches poll with 20 points (if extended). They have more votes than Florida State and Tennessee in both polls. I guess people are finally starting to notice the Jayhawks despite the lack of televised games or quality opponents. Even against the directional internationals on the schedule its hard to not be impressed when a team is averaging 53.5 points per game (3rd in the nation) while only giving up 5.8 points per game (tied for 1st in the nation with LSU). Kansas is also 4th in the nation in total offense (552.8 ypg) and 4th in the nation in total defense (218.8 ypg). Even the passing defense which was dead last in the country last year is 6th in the country this year. Kansas is taking care of business in games they’re supposed to win. Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas State have done anything to convince me that Kansas can’t seriously contend for the North and if they win I can’t wait to get to San Antonio and sport some KU blue. Yeah, I know I’m getting ahead of myself with Kansas having yet to play a Big 12 game but its a new experience watching the ‘hawks actually meet expectations a month into a season in a sport not played in Allen Fieldhouse.

Eric Yutzy (WTVF-TV, Nashville) is the Jayhawks’ second AP voter. He has them at #21.

20 in the latest AP Poll. I expected KU to crack the top 25 but this was higher than expected.
