We’re back
After something of a stand-off with the hosting company and a few name server issues, the Phog Blog is back. Judging by the performance of our football team in our absence, perhaps we’re better off shutting up and letting life happen. I’ll be upgrading Wordpress later this evening but you’ll be getting a lot more of what you used to get starting very soon.
A few topics for discussion:
Is it silly that KU can win out and watch two one loss teams play for the national title?
Is Brandon Rush going to be the same?
Does anyone else think that the concerns over recruiting in basketball this year are greatly exaggerated?
Sorry again for the absence.

If KU wins out beating Missouri and OU in succession I don’t see them on the outside. I think their sos will be enough to put them over oregon, lsu, and west virginia. Ohio St., BC, or ASU will be out if they lose 1. I really hope Rush can get his D back. There are enough people who can score on this team, but last year Rush was arguably one of the best defenders in the country. If the ‘hawks are cutting the nets in the final 4, it will be b/c Rush is shutting down their opponent’s top player. The real test of the recruiting will be this thu/fri when the morris twins, devoe joseph and j’mision morgan are set to announce. If Self can get 2 of them then I think the Jayhawks are in really good shape.

I meant to say the morris twins and morgan are set to announce on thursday and friday respectively. Devoe Joseph is just visiting but I don’t think its out of the realm of possibility for him to commit on the visit.

Glad to see this board back up and running!
I agree with Quinn. Very important week for basketball recruiting this week:
Thursday - Morris twins to announce
Friday - Bobo Morgan to announce
Weekend - Devoe Joseph visiting (and what a GREAT weekend for it w/ homecoming and Nebraska in town)
I think if KU will accept the Joseph commitment, we could have him this weekend. The issue is whether the staff thinks a Joseph commitment would sour Willie Warren. They have a lot invested in his recruitment . . . I sure hope they don’t overlook a gem in Devoe Joseph (whose brother is a very nice 2010 PG) only to end up with Willie Warren egg on their face.

I’ve got a feeling we’ll get good news on either Thursday or Friday, but not on Thursday and Friday. I feel pretty good about Devoe Joseph, and think he might be one of these “under the radar” guys that can actually do pretty well.
Jon Cornish was Canadian after all, and as a result, escaped the eye of a lot of bigger name programs.
DJ is from the Great White North if you hadn’t inferred that from the Cornish statement, btw.

Football - I think if we win out we will definately be invited to the National Title game. I am down here in SEC country and boy does it make people mad that that 2 BigXII teams are rated so high and are not parenial contenders.
Basketbal - I think we will get commitments on both Thursday and Friday. I think Self will once again pull a rabbit out of the hat. I do think this group will be a lot like the group that came in with RussRob, D jackson, Sasha, Galindo, and Giles. Great group to build a team around
Then the next year we bring in the big guns like with Rush, Chalmers, and Downs. Wierd to think that 3 of the eight I mentioned didn’t spend much time at KU.
